2023 National Wheelchair Rugby Calendar announced

Wheelchair Rugby Australia (WRA) is pleased to announce the National Wheelchair Rugby Calendar for 2023. The calendar has been developed in consultation with State Member organisations and Paralympics Australia in order maximise quality competition and pathway development for athletes, coaches and officials.

The Wheelchair Rugby National League will return in 2023 from February – April after the success of the re-formatted competition in 2022. The Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney rounds will play host to six (6) franchise teams consisting of players from across the country.

  • Melbourne Invitational: 24 – 26 February 2023 at Cobblebank Stadium (Melton, Victoria)

  • Brisbane Bash: 31 March – 2 April 2023 at Nissan Arena (Nathan, Queensland)

  • Sydney Slam: 22 – 24 April 2023 at Hills Hornets (Castle Hill, New South Wales)

WRA would like to thank the continued support and coordination of the National Rounds by state members, Disability Sport and Recreation, Sporting Wheelies & Disabled Association and Wheelchair Sports NSW/ACT.

WRA would further wish to thank the Rugby Club Foundation for their continued support of the National League, ensuring participation growth in wheelchair rugby for Australians living with disabilities.

The National League provides invaluable competitive playing time for all athletes as they look to be selected for their state teams for the 2023 Santos Wheelchair Rugby National Championship.

The 2023 Santos Wheelchair Rugby National Championship returns to the Gold Coast from 2 – 4 June 2023 at the Gold Coast Sport & Leisure Centre. In it’s third year at the Gold Coast, the Nationals are shaping up to be the biggest yet with more teams, more games and more action than ever before. Thanks to Naming Rights partner, Santos and event sponsors Major Events Gold Coast, Lifestyle Solutions and Degnan for their unwavering support of wheelchair rugby and ensuring the continued success and legacy of the National Championship.
