University of QLD victorious in Round Two of the 2023 Wheelchair Rugby National League

The University of Queensland Red Heavies remain undefeated in 2023 after winning Round 2 of the Wheelchair Rugby National League in Brisbane last weekend. Playing on home soil for only the second time, the Red Heavies were rarely troubled across the competition and have put themselves in the box seat to win back-to-back championship crowns with only one round remaining in the competition.

The final match of the tournament saw the two undefeated QLD outfits, UQ and Bond University, play off for the round victory, with the gallant Bond University Bull Sharks falling short of causing the upset against the 2022 League Champions.

Despite a number of player unavailability’s for the travelling teams, all sides we able to put on impressive performances with Tuggeranong and Sydney University utilising strong mid-point line ups leading to some nail-biting finishes.

UQ sit at the top of the leader board with 40 points, however, both Bond University and Melbourne are not far behind with 34 points apiece. The bottom of the ladder is also coming down to the wire in Sydney, with Tuggeranong, Sydney University and Box Hill all with 24 points.
