Wheelchair Rugby Australia has confirmed key dates for the 2026 competition calendar, outlining a full season of national league action, development events and major international tournaments.

With venues locked in and flagship events returning, the 2026 season will once again showcase the strength, depth and growth of wheelchair rugby ranging from grassroots development to world-class competition.

National League Development Round – Melbourne Invitational

Santos Wheelchair Rugby World Challenge and National Championship

National League Round 1 – Gold Coast Classic

When: Saturday 19 to Monday 21 September 2026
Where: Gold Coast Recreation Precinct, QLD

National League Round 2 – Sunshine Coast Clash

National League Round 3 – The Finals

2026 Canada Cup

When: Monday 1 to Monday 8 June 2026
Where: Richmond Olympic Oval, British Columbia, Canada
The Canada Cup returns as a key mid‑year international event, attracting elite teams from around the world, including our Australian Steelers.

2026 WWR World Championship

When: Saturday 15 to Monday 24 August 2026
Where: São Paulo, Brazil
Athletes worldwide will head to Brazil to compete at the prestigious World Championships – the pinnacle of our sport outside of the Paralympics – where the Australian Steelers will defend their current World Championship title.
